Praise Rocks!

On Saturday evening, as part of Wedgwood's 50th Anniversary celebration (I'll do a separate post on that later), WILD Worship presented their spring musical, "Praise Rocks!" It's a really fun musical about a group of kids who are having trouble praising God because they're going through some rough stuff in school and life, and a group of rocks who try to help the kids get their "praise back" before the very rocks cry out in their place. It has a great message about praising God in spite of our circumstances, and how we can trust him because we can see in Scripture how he has led his people through difficulties, and we know he'll do the same for us. Because this year's choir is rather small, Genny brought back some of the youth as "special guests" for some of the ensemble parts, and that was a big hit. They loved it, and so did the congregation. This year was rather odd for me - I didn't direct the musical, just acted as a "go-fer" doing anything Genny and Melissa needed, taking pictures, and helping out as much as possible. I did get to direct the soloists on one song, but mostly I was there for support. But Erin, the new director, did a great job, and so did the choir.

The Rocks - Pebble, Flint, Shale, Iggy, and one I can't remember.

The Choir
Five Smooth Stones (which became 4 because 1 was sick)
An ensemble of former WILD Worshippers
Church and children's choir leaders laid rocks on the altar during one of the songs - it was possibly the most meaningful part of the musical.
This little one stole the show!
Ahh... she finally got her praise on! And when the entire congregation joined her in singing "Friend of God," it was awesome!
Super Dave took pictures the entire weekend - can't wait to see them!
"Ain't no rock gonna cry in my place!"
"As long as I'm alive I'll glorify his holy name."
Phil, our music minister, making sure everyone got the message and had the opportunity to accept Christ if they were so led.
The leaders - Genny and Melissa in the first pic, Erin directing in the second, and the remnants of the Fab Four in the last. I MISS THIS!
What a fabulous evening of praising God, being led by a great group of kids, and celebrating a wonderful church. I tell you what, praise rocks... and so does our God!
