Road Trip to Mamaw and Papaw's

I have so much blogging to catch up on! I have spent the last two weeks on vacation, traveling around Alabama, Georgia, and Florida and visiting family and friends. With so many fun adventures, it will take lots of posts to cover the whole trip. So, let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start...

Brodie and I hit the road early on Friday morning for an 11-hour drive to Alabama. Brodie is such a good traveler. He decided to start the morning by showing off - it was the first time he has ever jumped up in the car by himself. I guess he was ready to go on vacation too! For most of the day, he sat in the passenger seat snoozing or sticking his head out the window when we hit the small towns. We got into some heavy rain in Alabama and then were greeted by a beautiful rainbow - I could almost see both ends! I just wish I hadn't been driving so I could have taken a better pic.

Eleven hours later we made it to Madison, AL to visit my Mamaw and Papaw. I haven't seen them since Thanksgiving, and was happy to have the opportunity for a spur-of-the-moment visit. As they said, it was like old times when I would visit them on the weekends during college. We played marbles, talked, cut grass (Papaw only), shopped for Bama stuff (had to take advantage of being in Alabama, you know...) and had a good time together. Mamaw fell in love with Brodie (not surprisingly), and he enjoyed getting to know her too. It was a really nice (though short) visit.

For this next pic, I had my big camera sitting on my knee trying not to let Papaw know I was taking his picture. Since I couldn't see what I was getting, I wasn't surprised that I cut off his head. However, I was surprised how much I liked this pic. No, you can't see his face, but for anybody who knows my Papaw, the overalls, striped shirt, and facial features leave no question who this is.
