Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks

So I'm a little behind the times - I just realized I never blogged about the Fourth of July! Independence Day is when my parents host a family gathering at their home each year. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and dogs converge upon Lodge Trail for a patriotic good time. This year everyone arrived on the 3rd, and we made plans to enjoy all the festivities that the rain cancelled last year. On the 4th of July we woke up and got ready for the Peachtree City parade. Unfortunately mom was sick with a fever, but Dad took a group over on the golf cart and I drove the car with a few others. The weather was amazing! Usually we are covered with sweat by the time the sun hits us, but this year it was comfortable - not too hot or humid. We were all a bit disappointed with the parade itself - it seemed a lot smaller and with less goodies than usual - but we had a great time waving our flags and showing our patriotic spirit.

After returning home and spending the majority of the day in the pool (another post on that), we got ready to go to the fireworks. Again, we were pleasantly surprised by the weather - we were quite comfortable hanging out waiting for the sun to go down and the fireworks to start. Interestingly, they started the fireworks before it was completely dark. I've never seen fireworks in a sunset before - strange! But it quickly darkened up, and the fireworks show definitely didn't disappoint.
Wyatt pitched a FIT when they took away his snowcone!
Fireworks in the sunset - strange!
Happy birthday, America! Thanks for sharing your birthday celebration with us!
