August 13 was Brodie's 3rd birthday (the second anniversary of the day I adopted him). I was trying to come up with some way to celebrate with him, mostly because I wanted some cute photos of my boy. But I knew it would be really difficult to beat last year's pics. So when a friend posted a photo of her dog on facebook enjoying a bone-shaped birthday cake, I knew I needed to find out where she got it. I drove to Southlake to the Three Dog Bakery and bought Brodie his very own carob cake - that was an adventure in itself due to the construction traffic. On Sunday afternoon I brought out the cake and took these adorable pictures of my birthday puppy. He was a little freaked out by the fire when I lit the candles, but he cooperated so well. He sure liked the taste of the icing. Then after church Shawn and Zoey came over - I cut a big slice of cake for each of the pups and let them chow down on the balcony. They scarfed it up like it was going out of style. I'm so glad my big birthday boy enjoyed his celebration. I can't believe I've had him for two years. He sure does make my life richer. Happy birthday, Brodie!
