Almost there...

Alas, I'm sorry it's been so long since I've given an update. But my life right now consists of writing, writing, writing. I have a paper due Friday that I have been madly trying to finish, so I haven't been doing much else (unless you count shopping with Genny on Saturday - but that had to be done!). I stayed up late last night and didn't get much sleep because my brain thought about the paper all night long. I have a feeling that will be the trend for the week. Anyway, my goal is to finish the writing today so I can edit and format the rest of the week. The paper topic is very interesting - the Passover Lamb as the background to the Lamb imagery in Revelation - it's just a massive topic. There's so much to say, so little time to say it (and Dr. Hoskins really doesn't want a 50 page paper anyway)! But it must be done by Friday, so I'm looking forward to an academic-free weekend - taking care of some much-needed maintenance in my apartment, watching the Alabama/LSU football game (ROLL TIDE!), and maybe even a little scrapbooking. Hey, I need a release after working so long on this paper.

By the way, I have to present the paper to my seminar a week from Friday. Pray that my paper passes (right now none of the 3 already presented have passed!), because I REALLY don't want to have to rewrite this paper. I'm trying hard to get it right the first time!

By golly, I think it's FALL!!

Finally, I think fall has come to Texas! I can't tell you how many people I've heard complaining about the weather today, but I'm loving it! Okay, the hard rain this morning was a little much as I was trying to get to work, but once that stopped, it's wonderful -

cloudy,
cool, in the 50's,
misty,
windy,
leaves falling off the trees,

And to top it off, I wore a scarf this morning (that comment was for you, Genny). This is the kind of weather I hope sticks around for a while. I haven't felt temps like this since JULY!

Highlight of my day (so far)

So, the highlight of my day today (so far, at least) involved a trip to Target on my lunch break. You see, Josh Groban's Christmas cd released today, and I have been anticipating this release for weeks! For those of you who don't know, I am a BIG Josh Groban fan and an even bigger fan of Christmas music, so combining the two is just about heaven. And so I'm sitting at my desk in the office, listening to "What Child Is This?" sung by just about the most gorgeous voice in the world and trying my hardest not to sing along. I can't wait for Christmas!

And, for those of you who are wondering why I'm listening to Christmas music already, I actually started late this year. Usually I break out the Christmas cd's on Labor Day, but I didn't go there until nearly October this year (with the exception of Christmas in Reverse, of course).

Happy 60th Anniversary

Today is my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. In this day in age it's almost a miracle for a couple to make it to 6 years, much less SIXTY! I am so thankful to have such wonderful examples of marriage in my family. Yes, they've had difficult times. Yes, they get angry at one another. And yes, they argue. What married couple doesn't? But unlike most, they've stuck it out through thick and thin, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. So in this post I just want to honor my Mamaw and Papaw and say that they are an inspiration to me. Happy 60th Anniversary!

Oh the frustration!

Don't mind me - I just need to vent for a moment about the inefficiency of the computer services department here at SWBTS. While I was in Scotland, the entire campus received an upgrade from Microsoft Office 2003 to 2007. Sounds great, right? Well, not for a computer as ancient as mine. Apparently Office 2007 takes a lot more effort to run than my computer wants to give. It is SO SLOW!!! Seriously, it takes over a minute to open an email, and God forbid I try to have more than one application open at a time - you'd think I asked it to do some amazingly difficult calculation rather than just open Outlook and Word at the same time!

Well, ever since I've been back to work I've been complaining about how slow my computer is, and how it is causing me to be very inefficient in the office. We've been dealing with the guys in computer services, trying to get a new computer, or at least some help for this one, and they keep saying they're working on it, it will be taken care of in a week, etc. Today I got notice that they hope to have it resolved today. He even asked what software I need on the computer, so it sure sounded like they had it in stock and were just getting details finalized. No such luck - just before lunch we got an email that we have to put in an official request for a new computer so that we can begin the process of obtaining one. Begin the process?!?! I thought we did that two months ago! So now we're back to square one, my computer is dragging, and I'm about to scream! Did I tell you how much I love working here?

Anyway, right now the computer services department here ranks right up there with the cable company and Sprint customer service. Don't get me started on that one!
