Bringing Home Brodie

Yesterday I drove to Granbury to pick up Brodie. It was the first time I actually got to interact with him, but he was so sweet and friendly. He doesn't seem to meet a stranger. We drove straight to Genny's house in Ft. Worth, where we hung out in the backyard for a few hours so that Abigail could meet him when she got out of volleyball practice. Brodie did so great, playing ball, exploring the yard, chasing a squirrel (much to Genny's delight!), and enjoying the feel of the grass on his belly. We also spent some time bonding - he's so affectionate, wants to climb in your lap and give kisses. What a sweetie!

His afternoon in the backyard wore him out! When we got in the car to drive home, he quickly fell asleep and didn't wake up till I woke him to get him out of the car. We took a little walk and then acquainted him with his new home. He set to playing with all his new toys - his favorite is a cheapie squeaky elephant from BigLots. And it didn't take him long to find his favorite resting spot, underneath the papazan chair.

As the night went on, I put in the dvd "New Moon" and stretched out on the couch. He hopped up next to me and we fell asleep curled together on the couch. How sweet! I was a little worried about how he would do overnight in his crate. But I put him to bed around 11:30, and he whined and barked off-and-on for about 20 minutes, but then he settled down and slept through the night. He did so great! At this point, I think I definitely got a winner in Brodie.
