Thanksgiving 2010
This year for Thanksgiving, almost the entire Isbell clan went to Mamaw and Papaw's house in Alabama. Let me tell you - we had a CROWD! If I remember correctly, there were 21 people; we were only missing 7, including the two youngest.
The day started off with the Macy's Day Parade on tv, hunting through the adverts to plan our Black Friday strategy, and of course, cooking. We had two turkeys - Uncle Steve smoked one, and Nate fried his. Both were delicious!
We also had all of our traditional favorites - cranberry relish, lima beans, green beans, pickles, rolls, deviled eggs, dressing, sweet potato casserole, etc. It was a feast! Though if you know me at all, you know that those last three items made it nowhere near my plate. :) (For this next series of photos, everyone kept asking me why I was taking a picture of their plates. I really wasn't - I just knew standing in the window to the kitchen during the buffet line would give me a great angle and opportunity to get pics of everyone there. Of course, there are none of me - oops!)
All week long the forecast had been calling for rain on Thanksgiving day. Turns out, the rain held off til that night, and it was a really warm day (even though it was cloudy), so we spent most of the day hanging out outside visiting.
And what would Thanksgiving be without a competitive game of marbles to round out the evening?
It was a really nice Thanksgiving. I can't remember the last time that many of us were together. All of Dad's brothers and sisters were there - and I missed the opportunity to photograph it. Bummer! I guess we'll just have to do it again next year.
